2023- A new year begins…

…and this new year for me means more printing and more concentration upon creating great prints. Our photographic lives are bombarded now with trillions of phone pics, noisy reels , and instagram photos that often all have a set look. Of course I understand people are trying to make a living and have to compromise to get by, but the overload of such posts is sometimes quite stifling . Creativity in my mind is not about replicating a set “style” again and again. It about developing a vision and style to represent a landscape both pictorially and emotionally. Of course I use social media but I also realise and understand that learning how to print, and print well, as a photographer is a goal to be strived for and achieved. Prints can be mounted, framed and sold so that people have years of enjoyment looking at and appreciating a photograph they like and maybe even love. We as photographers have the capapcity to generate such emotions so why on earth would we not want to learn this skill ? I mainly use Permajet paper including FB fine art papers, my favourites being FB Matt 285 and FB satin 310. My printer is an Epson surecolour 800 and knowing how it performs best with certain papers takes time. But it’s time well spent. My exhibition in June will hopefully demonstrate this. It will be held at The Crypt Norwich by the Cathedral. Hope to see many there for chats and viewings.

In the meantime here are a few new shots that I hope to print shortly. Will post on my FB and I gram page when I do (she says ironically!)
